One of the questions I am most frequently asked is what my favorite bar in the city is, and my half-joking reply is that it is, of course, the Spring Lounge. But when I'm not sipping a beer at the Lounge you can find me bellied up to the bar at The Gate or Fourth Avenue Pub, my clear second favorites. These comfortable Brooklyn watering holes have been leaders in the craft beer industry for the last two decades, so I was honored to have the opportunity to head up to Captain Lawrence and brew a beer with the guys behind them, Bobby Gagnon and Kirk Struble. They also happen to be two of my favorite drinking buddies in NYC. After a series of intense brain-storming sessions pouring over industry trend analytics (aka drinking beer in the backyard) we came up with "Second Favorite", a sessionable hazy American Pale Ale perfect for crushing in the end days of summer.
We'll be celebrating our collaboration in typical Spring Lounge fashion...Kegs & Eggs! Chef Jeff Maslanka is working on the menu, which involves pulled pork, so make sure to schedule an extra long lunch break from work.
See you there!
